We catch up with Dele on passing her probation and her first 6 months at Ikiru People:

How would you describe your first six months at the company?

It’s been an interesting and an eye-opening experience, with the merge and so many changes in such a short period of time. The first 3 months was a little slow as I got to know my colleagues, workflows and software. However, I truly feel part of the team here.

What’s been the biggest learning curve for you?

Learning to support multiple software, that is similar, but at the same time different. Plus, with the company changes, seeing the introduction of Ikiru People and the merging of staff from the other businesses in the group, there’s been a lot to learn. Trying to follow expectations across the divisions, whilst the group create a more unified way of working across all brands.

What’s been your biggest achievement so far?

Integrating myself into the company and learning the systems to deliver such a high standard so quickly. Exceeding a customer’s expectations is very important to me, as well as making a positive impact on the team I work with.

How are we supporting you to develop and progress?

Unfortunately, when I’d started, I’d just missed the enrolment dates for some of the external training courses on offer. However, there are discussions about future courses and branching out to different departments. I have, of course received initial and ongoing product training and have also been given new & higher levels of access as time has gone on.

How does serving the recruitment industry compare to your previous work experience?

Recruitment is faster-paced, and clients are more ‘on-the-spot’ demanding, but that’s understandable, considering their focus is putting people to work. It is interesting to see the various workflows in temp, executive and full-time recruitment. Building relationships with customers, as they all work in different ways – especially in executive search, which can be quite specific! But it’s interesting to be able to interact with customers so much and yet not be client facing.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years’ time?

I don’t have a set plan but, in a year or two, I am hoping to have expanded my skill set and have more of a specialism or career route.
